Workers Are Being Replaced by AI at Record Rates – Don’t Let it Be You

There are only two ways to improve the bottom line in a business – increasing revenue or cutting expenses.
Payroll is the single biggest expense for most businesses. With the emergence of user-friendly generative A.I. it can be tempting for businesses to replace workers (or even entire departments) with this new technology. However, layoffs can have significant negative implications for the long-term success of a business.
The negative consequences of layoffs cannot avoided by replacing workers with A.I.
When setting out to cut expenses, businesses should evaluate every other expense such as equipment, facilities, utilities, excess inventory, and SaaS before payroll.
While there is a time and place to “trim fat”, there is a significant difference between firing someone and laying them off. Layoffs are driven by financial strain in the business at large, whereas firing addresses a productivity problem at the source.
A good employee is worth far more than a generative A.I.
This morning I walked into my office, powered on my computer, and opened my emails. The first thing I see is 15 marketing emails that have Dall-E generated images. I want to claw my eyes out just looking at it.
