I feel like the book had hours of source material that could have been in the film, but they had to whittle it down to something that could capture the hard-cut attention span of moviegoers.

In that revision process, I think they found a way of editing down the core of an idealistic vision of a world where national figures can be queer. Whatever else this film lacks, that alone makes it 1000000000x better than Bros.
