This is the guiding principal for why I have so many bank accounts: Out of Sight, Out of Mind.
For the first few years of my life as an adult, I would keep all of my money in checking and just pay the bills as they came. My paycheck would go into my bank account and I’d just start spending. Maybe I would section off a little bit of cash into savings, which would quickly be spent when I was a little short on cash.
That is a system designed for failure.
Yet, it is exactly how the majority of Americans manage their money.
Many people would rather blame the national financial system and economic climate than to learn even the most bare bones basics of building personal finance system. Understanding how to use banking to your advantage, however, is the difference between millionaire janitors and broke CEOs.
